When Seth Adam plays local shows, his phone rings nonstop. This happens for a good reason, too. When Seth and his self-titled band, “Seth Adam,” come to the stage, their energy flows into the crowd for a show that is a great experience to enjoy.
Seth Adam, a Southern student majoring in graphic design, lit up the stage last Thursday night at Toad’s Place. With his dynamic stage presence and energetic, catchy and honest self-written rock songs, Adam brought a refreshing bit of local music back to New Haven.
Before his show on Thursday, Adam said music has always been a part of his life. His mom loved singing, and Adam could remember singing with her by the age of five. He picked up percussion by the age of 10 and then guitar at 12.
Bringing his well-honed skills to Toad’s Place, Adam played his originals to friends, family and fans alike. Adam, who has been writing lyrics since the age of 14, loves playing live shows.
“I feel like my songs are never fully written. I like playing live because they evolve,” said Adam.
By having a self-named band, Adam has the freedom to play full band or acoustic shows. He said he feels the live show is becoming more and more important with the advent of the Internet helping local bands gain visibility. Adam plays all over the tri-state area and beyond a few times a week.
Adam has a work ethic focused on the quality of his performances. He said his goals are selling some CDs, play good, consistent shows and keep turning folks on to his music. If Adam and his band play every show like Thursday night’s performance, his shows will keep turning folks onto his music and his phone will keep on ringing.
